CCRC, Nursing
Homes, And Adult Day Care
- Continuing
Care Retirement Communities (CCRC)
Continuing care retirement communities offer an innovative
and independent lifestyle for single and married older adults.
This type of community is different from other housing and care
options for older people because it offers a long-term contract
that provides for housing, services and nursing care, usually
all in one location.
The
CCRC continues to meet your needs in a familiar setting as you
grow older, also known as, "aging in place." Increasing
levels of care are provided for from within the community. As
a CCRC resident, you can take advantage of a wide variety of
activities and services conveniently offered within the community.
There are no restrictions on lifestyle. You can continue to
travel, volunteer and enjoy life outside the community as much
as you like. The CCRCs emphasis on the individual, coupled
with a supportive environment, allows you to continue to pursue
your lifelong interests.

- Nursing
Homes
A
nursing home usually offers a full array of personal, dietary,
therapeutic, social, recreational and nursing services. Nursing
Homes, or Skilled Nursing Facilities, are designed for people
who are in need of 24 hour nursing care.
Nursing homes provide many of the same residential components
of other Long Term Care settings including room and board, personal
care, protection supervision, and may offer other types of therapy.
Their onsite medical staff sets them apart from other types
of housing. Nursing care is provided by registered nurses (RN),
licensed practical nurses (LPN), and nurses aides.
- Adult
Day Care
Adult
Day Care offers structured, comprehensive programs providing
a variety of health, social, and other related support services
in a protective setting during any part of a day, but less than
24-hour care. Adult day centers generally operate programs during
normal business hours five days a week. Some programs offer
services in the evenings and on weekends. Adult Day Health Care
is a more structured setting that includes medical monitoring,
occupational and physical therapy, counseling, support groups
for families, etc.
